NBA Twitter trolling Nets into oblivion for getting blown out by Celtics

The shorthanded Brooklyn Nets got blown out by the Boston Celtics on Tuesday, Feb. 8, and NBA Twitter trolled them into oblivion.

The Brooklyn Nets were shorthanded on stars entering their Tuesday night matchup against the Boston Celtics at Barclays Center. Kevin Durant is sidelined due to an MCL sprain and Kyrie Irving was ruled out due to New York City’s vaccine mandate. But prior to the game on Feb. 8, it was revealed that James Harden would sit out his third consecutive game with left hamstring tightness.

With all three stars out, the Nets were blown out 126-91 by the Celtics. Early on in the game, Boston actually held a 28-2 lead. Things got bad for Brooklyn, and NBA Twitter trolled them into oblivion.

Nets fans had to expect that the game would not be easy, considering their starting lineup consisted of Blake Griffin, Patty Mills, Bruce Brown, Kessler Edwards and DeAndre’ Bembry. Those five players combined for a total of 21 points while shooting 10-for-36 from the field.

Brooklyn’s bench, as you can tell, accounted for the majority of the team’s points. Jevon Carter scored 21 points (7-for-16 from field, 7-for-13 from three-point line), while James Johnson put up 17 points (8-for-11 from field) and five assists.

Boston watched as Jaylen Brown (9-for-12) and Marcus Smart (8-for-16) accounted for 22 points each. Robert Williams III recorded a double-double by recording 12 points and 11 rebounds.

The Nets will look to end their nine-game losing streak on Thursday, Feb. 10, when they take on the Washington Wizards. The Celtics face off against the Denver Nuggets on Friday, Feb. 11, where a victory would extend their winning streak to seven games.
