James Worthy has some serious criticisms for the Lakers’ tenacity

Los Angeles Lakers legend James Worthy criticized the team following their overtime loss to the Houston Rockets on Wednesday.

Just when you thought the Los Angeles Lakers could not find a new low this season, they did on Wednesday night. The Lakers faced off against the last-place Houston Rockets, which should have been an easy win for them. Instead, Los Angeles lost to Houston in overtime by the score of 139-130.

After the game, Lakers legend James Worthy appeared on Spectrum and talked about the team’s performance. Worthy said that the team does not have the tenacity “to work their way out of this.”

After the game, Carmelo Anthony responded to Worthy’s comments, saying that he respects his opinion and that he doesn’t “totally disagree with him.”

Even with Los Angeles’ struggles throughout the season, Houston presented itself as a get-right game. LeBron James did get a triple-double on the night by scoring 23 points (9-for-26 from the field), grabbing 14 rebounds and tallying 12 assists. Russell Westbrook led the team in scoring with 30 points (11-for-21).

Yet, the Lakers could not hold back the previously 16-win Rockets. Rookie and second-overall pick Jalen Green had the best game of his career against James, Westbrook and Anthony. Green scored a career-high 32 points while shooting 13-for-21 from the field and 4-for-7 from behind the three-point line.

Fellow rookie Josh Christopher contributed off the bench, scoring 21 points (8-for-13 from field, 3-for-5 from three).

The Lakers look to bring an end to their losing streak on Friday night, when they play the Washington Wizards. But things won’t get any easier, as they play the first-place Phoenix Suns on Sunday.
