Some rough news has come in for the Chicago Bulls, as star point guard Lonzo Ball could end up undergoing knee surgery.
Things have unfortunately gone from bad to worse for the Chicago Bulls and Lonzo Ball’s knee injury. According to NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski, Ball has suffered a meniscus injury in his left knee.
Things have gotten so troubling for Ball, it’s looking like he may need to undergo surgery. If that does end up happening, Ball would end up being sidelined for the next 4-6 weeks, which of course would be a big blow for Chicago as a whole.
Lonzo Ball knee surgery would sideline him for at least a month
Ball has impressed during his first year with Chicago, scoring 13 points a game and adding 5.4 rebounds and 5.1 assists. The Bulls have been strong this year as well, posting a 28-15 record. Having said that, this team has lost five of its last seven games.
On Friday night, Chicago is all set to take on Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks in what should be a fun matchup. Unfortunately for the Bulls, Ball won’t be able to suit up for this one because of his knee injury.
Again, an official call hasn’t been made on Ball undergoing surgery, but there’s worry among the fanbase that it will end up happening. The hope is that Ball would be able to rehab his knee and then get back in time to help Chicago close out the season strong and make plenty of noise in the playoffs.
When the Bulls signed Ball to his monster four-year, $85 million contract, they did so hoping that he could be a standout point guard for years to come. We should find out soon enough what Ball decides, as he’s considering his options on how to get his knee back to full strength.
