Memphis Grizzlies, NBA, Oklahoma City Thunder

NBA Twitter in awe of Grizzlies beating Thunder by record 73 points

The Oklahoma City Thunder were humbled and humiliated when they lost in record-setting fashion against the Memphis Grizzlies.

Well, the state of Oklahoma is having an interesting week.

Between the way a wild Bedlam ended, the tumultuous and controversial departure of Oklahoma Sooners head coach Lincoln Riley, and now the Oklahoma City Thunder finding a way to lose in record-setting fashion, it’s safe to say that things could be going better for Oklahomans right now.

Thursday evening, the Thunder lost to the Memphis Grizzlies in remarkably heartbreaking fashion. With Memphis star Ja Morant out, the Grizzlies won by 73 points, which is an NBA record for margin of victory.

With the 152-79 win, the Grizzlies also set a franchise record for points scored in a game and a large part of that is because Memphis’ bench put up 93 points, outscoring the entirety of OKC’s roster.

That’s great if you happen to be rooting for Memphis. If you’re on the other end of this, then you’re probably not thrilled with the way the Thunder lost.

Of course, if you’re just like keeping up with what’s happening on NBA Twitter, you’re probably loving this.

Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Memphis Grizzlies: NBA Twitter shocked with Thunder losing in record-setting fashion

This sort of lopsided loss is absolutely absurd. There was no real way for the Thunder to get back into this game. Just none. They had no chance.

The fact that all of this happened without Morant on the court? Bizarre. Just totally bizarre.

Safe to say that nobody on that roster or coaching staff or really anyone in Oklahoma City enjoyed any part of that.

And yeah, that includes OKC’s communications folks. The folks running OKC’s social media accounts probably aren’t enjoying their mentions right now.
