In a shocking turn of events, former NFL running back Frank Fore is set to take on former NBA guard Deron Williams in a boxing match.
Who in the heck saw this coming? A week before Christmas, it’s looking like NFL and NBA fans will be ready to take over Twitter, as Frank Gore and Deron Williams are about to enter the ring. We’re not making that up.
According to NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski, Gore and Williams have agreed to box as part of the undercard for the Jake Paul vs. Tommy Fury showdown on Dec. 18. This bout will be featured on Showtime for a PPV event. Goodness.
Frank Gore vs. Deron Williams boxing match is all set for Dec. 18
Gore just wrapped up his brilliant 16-year career by spending 2020 with the New York Jets. After rushing for 16,000 yards and 81 touchdowns during his NFL playing days, Gore shifted his focus to the ring during the offseason.
Gore has been training to fight since August, but it was unknown who his first opponent would be. Now, it’s Williams who will be putting on the gloves in hopes of knocking Gore out. Williams was once an All-Star point guard. He decided to hang up his sneakers following the 2016-17 campaign. Throughout his career, he played for the Jazz, Nets, Cavaliers and Mavericks.
These two are spectacular athletes, which should make this fight all the more interesting. Gore checks in at 5-foot-9, while Williams has the hight advantage at 6-foot-3. Despite that, Gore isn’t going to let that impact him in trying to deliver some haymakers to Williams’ grill. Mark your calendars for Dec. 18, folks. This matchup sure will be one to remember.
