Kevin Durant and Draymond Green point the finger at Steve Kerr and Bob Myers for breaking up the Golden State Warriors.
While Kevin Durant and Draymond Green seem to have made amends, they are still blaming Steve Kerr and Bob Myers for breaking up the Golden State Warriors dynasty in the end.
Durant and Green reunited on Team USA this summer, interestingly enough with Kerr on Gregg Popovich’s staff. Though the former Warriors teammates look like they are on good terms now, both believe how Kerr and Myers went about trying to cut corners when attempting to rectify Durant and Green’s famous argument was the reason their dynasty ended after only three years.
Here is what Durant and Green talked about on the latest episode of Chips with Draymond Green.
Kevin Durant, Draymond Green cite Steve Kerr, Bob Myers for Warriors breakup
From their conversation, it feels like Durant and Green would have wanted their conflict resolution to have come about organically. They believe it would have happened naturally over time and they would still be teammates in Golden State because of this. However, the combination of Kerr and Myers trivializing the argument and trying to get a forced apology out of Green was so off-putting.
While it was not shocking to see Durant speak this candidly about the Golden State experience, it was mind-blowing to hear Green speak about his head coach and general manager like this on the record. Green has never played for another NBA franchise. Though he too is destined for Springfield, he is not the same all-around star player he was during the Warriors’ dynastic run.
Whoever is to truly blame for the Warriors’ demise, they have not made the playoffs in two years.
