Justise Winslow needs to make the most of his new opportunity with the LA Clippers.
Former Miami Heat lottery pick Justise Winslow has signed a two-year deal with the LA Clippers.
Winslow was the 10th overall pick by the Heat in the 2015 NBA Draft out of Duke. While some argued he had serious superstar potential coming out of Duke, that has not been the case for the forward. Though he has shown flashes of brilliance in Miami uniform and most recently with the Memphis Grizzlies, perhaps he can become the best player he can be working with Tyronn Lue?
Here is why Winslow could be the perfect reclamation project for the Clippers going forward.
Justise Winslow signs two-year deal with the LA Clippers in his free agency
A big reason why Winslow has not achieved many thought he would coming out of Duke is that he has not been healthy. He has appeared in fewer than 30 games in half of his six NBA seasons. If he can get back to playing in the high 60s, there is a chance he could reinvent himself in Los Angeles. He has a big opportunity with the Clippers, as Kawhi Leonard works his way back from a torn ACL.
Winslow may only be a complementary rotation player or a fringe fifth-starter at this point of his career, but there are minutes to be had on a Western Conference finalist team in the Clippers. He has a great cast around him, and we know that Lue will get the most out of his talent. So no, it would not be shocking to see Winslow have a career year over the next two years with LA.
It sure looks like Winslow picked an ideal spot to reclaim his NBA career now with the Clippers.
