The Houston Rockets own the No. 2 pick in the 2021 NBA Draft but who should they take with Cade Cunningham off the board?
The Detroit Pistons have the No. 1 pick in the NBA Draft tonight but the real drama starts with the Houston Rockets at the No. 2 pick.
Adrian Wojnarowski already reported the Pistons have decided to take Oklahoma State guard Cade Cunningham with the top pick, barring an unforeseen trade between now and 8 p.m. ET.
That means the Rockets will be the ones holding all the cards when they are on the clock. Will a team try to trade up and get the best player after Cunningham or will the Rockets find their future cornerstone franchise player at No. 2?
Draft experts have said this year’s group of players has a few players that would be worthy of being the No. 1 pick but Cunningham is just a special player that is best for Detroit. That means the Rockets may want to hold on to this pick and take the top player on their draft board and forget about rolling the dice on any sort of trade.
Additionally, after trading James Harden, making a trade and not getting a young player that can grow in the organization may not be what fans are hoping is the outcome.
