Brooklyn Nets superstar James Harden was detained by French police after trying to help out rapper Lil Baby.
James Harden is making headlines during Fashion Week in Paris, but not for a reason Brooklyn Nets fans were expecting.
Most of what we’ve seen from Harden is exactly on-point. He’s been spotted multiple times this week with rappers Kanye West and Lil Baby, and seems to be having really having a good time.
Like, a really good time.
Police in Paris reportedly crashed the feel good vibes on Thursday, pulling over that Lil Baby was riding in because of a ‘strong’ odor of marijuana.
Harden was nearby and went to go help out Lil Baby, and that’s when things got a little stick and partially icky. According to ESPN. French police decided to detain Harden as they investigated what they felt was a drug possession violation.
Was James Harden arrested in Paris?
The now infamous James Harden police incident is already a taller tale than what actually happened. Harden wasn’t arrested, but he was detained by police in Paris. It also doesn’t appear that he was in the car that was pulled over, rather he was nearby and came over to assist Lil Baby once it became apparent that something was happening.
James Harden police incident: Is Weed legal in Paris?
In ESPN’s report, they stated that police found 20 grams of marijuana in the car. Weed is not legal in France, which led to Lil Baby and members of his crew being taken to the station to get booked for their offense.
Again, Harden was never arrested here. Instead, he was able to walk away after he was simply trying to help out his friend. The Nets standout had plenty of ups and downs this season, battling injuries throughout the year. Brooklyn had hopes of winning the NBA Finals, but they were eliminated by the Milwaukee Bucks in Game 7 of their series.
Come next season, the expectation is that the Nets will be in a strong place to try and get the job done and compete for a Finals title. For now, they’ll have to watch the Suns and Bucks do battle instead. With Harden, he’ll be focused on just having a good time in Paris and not have another run-in with the cops.
