LAPD believe Kentavious Caldwell-Pope robbery is part of something bigger

The recent robbery of Lakers forward Kentavious Caldwell-Pope is being investigated as part of something bigger.

The Los Angeles Lakers offseason has already taken a few twists and turns, but none of them are of the transactional variety.

Alex Caruso’s arrest for possession of marijuana — a drug that is legal in almost ever corner of the country — was a bit of a plot twist but led to some hilarious reactions from LeBron James.

Less light-hearted was the June 17th robbery of Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, a matter that the LAPD is once again looking into, according to TMZ. At the time of the robbery, police believed it was an isolated incident but a June 25th robbery with distinct similarities to the Caldwell-Pope robbery have investigators thinking differently.

Fashion Nova CEO Richard Saghian was robbed at his home just after arriving back in the early morning hours of June 25th, which is an almost identical situation to the Caldwell-Pope robbery.

Both robberies involve what appears to be a crew of thieves following high-profile targets home, then ambushing them at gun-point in their driveways.

The LAPD is looking into similar incidents throughout Los Angeles, and have tabbed the situation as “ongoing”.

Caldwell-Pope gave police an absolutely terrifying account of his robbery, noting that individuals pulled up and rushed him in his driveway at 4 a.m. on June 17th as he returned home. The thieves forced their way into his home and left with around $150,000 worth of valuables.

While he gave his account to police, Caldwell-Pope has yet to publicly comment on the incident.
