The Wizards are another NBA team searching for a new coach after parting ways with Scott Brooks
The Washington Wizards‘ season was a rollercoaster ride. They started slow, fought COVID-19, but persevered to squeak into the playoffs. Much of the credit goes to Russell Westbrook and Bradley Beal, but head coach Scott Brooks also deserves some praise. He was able to rally his troops and get them to the postseason after starting 3-12.
Unfortunately, he won’t be returning to DC for his sixth season.
The Wizards and Brooks have agreed to part ways, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. The head coach’s deal expired after this postseason, and both sides couldn’t come to an agreement on a new contract.
Brooks had an up and down tenure with the Wizards
Brooks accumulated a 183-207 record while coaching Washington, getting them to the postseason three out of his five seasons there, per RealGM.com. His best year during the 2016-2017 season, where he lead the team to a 49-33 record and reached the Eastern Conference Semi-finals.
They reached the playoffs again the following year but lost in the first round to the Atlanta Hawks 4-1. Brooks’ Wizard teams missed the postseason from 2018-2020, ranking towards the bottom of the East.
