Lakers forward Montrezl Harrell seems to be enjoying the Los Angeles Clippers struggling in the playoffs after being branded a scapegoat in 2020.
Montrezl Harrell is eating up the schadenfreude this week watching the Clippers fall down 0-2 to the Mavericks. The Lakers center spent three years with the Clippers before subpar performances in the 2020 playoffs played a role in the team letting him walk.
The scapegoat of the postseason is now getting the last laugh.
While he didn’t directly troll the Clippers, Harrell’s social media activity says enough about his feelings.
Montrezl Harrell is clearly still bothered by criticism with the Clippers
The thing is, Harrell has every right to be a tad salty about the way he left the Clippers. It was a tough playoffs and he took a lot of the blame unfairly. LA didn’t lose to the Nuggets in the Western Conference Semifinals solely because of their Sixth Man of the Year.
However, he might be better off collecting his check and letting things go. Correlation is not causation, but he played 15 minutes in the Lakers Game 1 loss to the Suns and zero minutes in their Game 2 win. What the Clippers do at this point doesn’t matter. He’s got to stay focused on what he can do for the Lakers.
The Clippers have to get things right in Dallas in Game 3 coming up on Friday. Paul George may not be concerned, but this is likely to be the most important game of their season.
As for the Lakers, they’ll look to push their advantage back in Los Angeles on Thursday for Game 3 against the Suns. They might have nicked a game in Phoenix, but they’re not out of the woods yet in terms of proving they can defend their NBA title.
