Wizards rookie Deni Avdija suffered a brutal injury Wednesday night against the Warriors and needed a wheelchair to leave the court.
Deni Avdija was the No. 9 overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft by the Washington Wizards and has been a solid contributor during his rookie season. The young forward is averaging just over six points per game as he continues to adjust to the NBA game at the age of 20.
Unfortunately, Avdija is in the news Wednesday night for other reasons. The rookie landed awkwardly after a shot and suffered what appears to be a gruesome ankle injury. If you do not like to see any injuries, avoid the following video.
Deni Avdija needs a wheelchair to leave the court
This was tough to watch and fans were instantly waiting for an update. ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski ended up providing some good news.
The initial injury looked like it could be catastrophic. A positive injury-related Woj bomb is a bit of great news after watching the video.
Avdija needed a wheelchair to leave the floor and everyone was obviously concerned for his long-term health. His season ending like this is not ideal, but hopefully the MRI confirms he will just need rest and recovery without surgery.
