Houston Rockets guard Victor Oladipo won’t suit up against the Hornets on Wednesday night, but it’s reportedly due to personal reasons and not because he’s been traded.
With the NBA trade deadline arriving on Thursday, everyone is waiting to see where players will be landing next. There’s expected to be plenty of activity, with Houston Rockets guard Victor Oladipo among the names who continues to be floated around in trade rumors.
On Wednesday, countless folks out there figured he had been traded after it was announced he wouldn’t be playing against the Charlotte Hornets. That’s not the case, though, as Rockets insider Jonathan Feigen is reporting Oladipo is sitting this one out due to personal reasons.
Victor Oladipo is missing Wednesday’s game for the Rockets due to personal reasons and not a trade
While Feigen didn’t report the personal reasons for Oladipo, he made it quite clear that a trade of any kind has nothing to do with why he’s missing the action. On the season, Oladipo is averaging 20.8 points, five rebounds and 4.7 assists per game. With those kinds of numbers, it’s no wonder why teams are interested in dealing for his services.
For the Rockets, it’s been a year to forget, which of course has included the team trading James Harden to the Brooklyn Nets. Houston enters Wednesday’s tilt with Charlotte with a 12-30 record, which has them in second-to-last place of the Western Conference standings. The 10-33 Timberwolves are the only team worse than them out West right now.
With Houston clearly hoping to rebuild, they could potentially deal Oladipo for some younger players and draft picks. With the deadline arriving on Thursday, we’ll find out soon enough if Oladipo closes out the year in Houston or ends up suiting up elsewhere.
