NBA trade rumors: Mavericks, Raptors considering Andre Drummond trade

The Cleveland Cavaliers have received interest from the Dallas Mavericks and Toronto Raptors in regards to center Andre Drummond.

The NBA trade deadline is only a couple of days away, and all eyes will be on the Cleveland Cavaliers when it comes to center Andre Drummond. The center has been on the sidelines since Feb. 12 as the team finds a new home for him. But will the Cavaliers be able to find a trade partner for Drummond’s services?

According to Kevin O’Connor of the Ringer, the Cavaliers have had trade talks with the Dallas Mavericks regarding Drummond. O’Connor also notes that the Toronto Raptors have “retained interest” in Drummond.

O’Connor says that the Cavaliers are looking for a second-round pick in exchange for Drummond. However, they would look for more in return if another team is looking to offload “a long-term salary” in the deal.

The Los Angeles Lakers and the Brooklyn Nets are potentially interested in Drummond, but only if the Cavaliers are unable to find a trade partner and have to resort to buying out his contract, per O’Connor.

As of this writing, the Mavericks hold a half-game lead over the Golden State Warriors for the 8-seed in the Western Conference. Adding Drummond would certainly help them make a push for a playoff spot, when it looked as though they were a certified NBA Draft Lottery team earlier this year.

The Raptors reportedly engaged in trade discussions with the Cavaliers last month, but things have changed. Toronto currently sits in 11th place in the East, is on an eight-game losing streak and is 1-9 in its last 10 games.

In 25 games this season, Drummond averaged 17.5 points, 13.5 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game while shooting 47.4 percent from the field.
