Caris LeVert scores first points with Pacers after health scare (Video)

After the NBA world was shocked to learn of his scary condition, Caris LeVert scored his first points as a member of the Indiana Pacers.

It’s been a scary year in sports. We’ve had to deal with the disappearance and then reappearance of sports as a whole. Then, we’ve had to deal with postponements and cancellations due to COVID-19 protocols. But no one could have predicted what happened to Caris LeVert.

Regardless of team allegiances, the NBA world was stunned to find that LeVert was not 100 percent healthy after he had been traded to the Indiana Pacers just over a month ago. LeVert was a piece in the now-notorious blockbuster James Harden trade that sent Harden to the Brooklyn Nets and LeVert to Indiana.

After the trade, the team announced that the 26-year-old guard would be out indefinitely after an MRI revealed a small mass on his left kidney.

Now, almost a month after the injury announcement, LeVert has joined his new team on the court.

Caris LeVert makes Indiana Pacers debut

In his debut, LeVert finished with 13 points and 7 rebounds in 27 minutes to help Indiana take down the Phoenix Suns 122-111 on Saturday. His first point came from the free-throw line in the second quarter, and fans all around the NBA loved to see it.

LeVert will look to step in and try to help a struggling Pacers team get back into the playoff picture. They’re currently 17-20, half a game behind the Atlanta Hawks for the eighth spot in the mediocre Eastern Conference. He was averaging 18.5 points, 6.0 assists and 4.3 rebounds per game for the Nets before the trade was finalized.

While wins and losses are obviously important in sports, we’re happy to see LeVert back out there and thankful that all involved in the trade did their due diligence and possibly saved that young man’s life.

Go sports.
