Jason Terry reminisces about the time LeBron James dunked him into oblivion

Jason Terry talked about the time he got viciously dunked on by LeBron James in 2013.

Jason Terry spent 19 years in the NBA, spanning across six teams. He won the NBA’s Sixth Man of the Year award in 2009 and became an NBA champion in 2011. But, Terry is not remembered for his accolades. Rather, for one specific play.

During an appearance on Bleacher Report’s “Untold Stories,” Terry told host Master Tesfatsion about the time that he was viciously dunked on by then-Miami Heat star LeBron James during a March 18, 2013 game as a member of the Boston Celtics.

Terry forever remembered for this dunk

You have to feel for Terry here. He said that he would visit basketball camps and kids would ask him how it felt to be dunked on by James instead of what it is like to play in the NBA for nearly two decades. In fact, Terry said that even his Celtics teammates were making fun of him in the locker room for getting posterized by “King James.”

In this specific game, Terry stole the ball off of Heat guard Norris Cole but immediately lost possession by a steal from Dwyane Wade. From there, Terry was left in a proverbial Bermuda Triangle, as Mario Chalmers secured the ball, passed it to Cole who then lobbed it to a streaking James for a monster dunk. As Terry said, he had no idea why he jumped once James went for the dunk, because he stood no chance.

To make matters worse for Terry, the Celtics ended up losing the game 105-103 to the Heat thanks to James’ 37-point, 12-assist effort. Talk about adding insult to injury.

While Terry is clowned on for this play, he can always talk about the 2011 NBA Finals, where the Dallas Mavericks defeated LeBron’s Heat in six games. In fact, Terry’s 27-points helped the Mavs clinch their first NBA title in Game 6. There is always that.
