The sky cannot even contain Minnesota Timberwolves’ promising rookie Anthony Edwards.
It may be very early in Anthony Edwards‘ NBA career, but the Minnesota Timberwolves rookie just showed us why he was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft with this incredible in-game dunk.
Edwards is the best Dawg since Dominique Wilkins, though Kentavious Caldwell-Pope would beg to differ. But even on a lowly Minnesota team, every Dawg has his day. Here is Edwards taking off from near the free-throw line to give us what may very well be the best dunk of the young 2020-21 NBA season. It was a thunderous jam and it reminded us of “The Human Highlight Reel”.
Anthony Edwards gives Timberwolves fans hope for a better tomorrow
Though the Timberwolves may be one of the worst teams in the NBA, Edwards has provided some spark in his rookie season in the Twin Cities. In 16 games thus far, he has averaged 12.3 points per game, albeit on only 34.4 percent shooting. What we all have to remember is he is only 19-years-old. This time last year, he was playing for an anonymous Georgia Bulldogs team over in the SEC.
Far from a finished product, look for Ryan Saunders and his Minnesota staff to develop this top-tier talent. If this former Tom Crean player is the next Dwyane Wade, these kinds of jaw-dropping highlights will present themselves. With guys like D’Angelo Russell and Karl-Anthony Towns, Minnesota has a nice corps it can push forward with in yet another rebuild for the franchise.
Do not be surprised if Edwards puts another team on a poster in the coming weeks and months.
