The Golden State Warriors point guard made history on Saturday night against the Utah Jazz.
In 2009, the Golden State Warriors selected Davidson point guard Stephen Curry with the seventh-overall pick in the NBA Draft. The Warriors knew they were getting a star, but he’s shown over his 12-year career that he’s one of the best shooters in the game’s history. He showcased that further on Saturday night.
During the third quarter of Golden State’s game against the Utah Jazz, Curry drove to the basket, passed it to forward Draymond Green who gave it back to Curry, who launched a successful catch-and-shoot three-pointer.
With that, Curry has now passed Hall of Famer Reggie Miller for second place on the NBA’s all-time three-pointers made list with 2,561.
Curry now chasing Ray Allen for first
The Saturday night contest wasn’t the greatest one for the Warriors, who were down mightily to the Jazz, but at least Curry was able to accomplish some history with his historic shot from beyond the arc.
Curry will now look to take the crown from future Hall of Famer Ray Allen, who retired back in 2014 with 2,973 successful three-pointers made. According to the NBA, Curry would be able to catch Allen in over 100 games based off his current three-pointers per game pace (4.1). So in all likelihood, Curry will be able to accomplish this feat next season.
Entering this game, Curry was shooting 37.1-percent from the three-point line.
