The NBA champion giving support to Canelo Alvarez ahead of title fight
Golden State Warriors star and former NBA champion Steph Curry has a horse in the race of the super-middleweight boxing title fight between Canelo Alvarez and Callum Smith, as Curry is showing support for Alvarez.
Curry and Alvarez shared a moment this past summer while on a golf course, as the two did some “sparring” on the green while participating in a celebrity golf tournament.
Alvarez’s fight with Smith will mark his second competing at super middleweight. Alvarez made his first appearance at 168 pounds two years ago at New York’s Madison Square Garden, where he knocked out Rocky Fielding to win the WBA “Regular” super middleweight championship.
It was Alvarez’s first fight since winning the rematch with Gennady Golovkin.

This will be Smith’s third title defense of the WBA (Super) and The Ring super middleweight titles since winning them in September 2018 by defeating George Groves in the finals of the World Boxing Super Series.
Smith finished Hassan N’Dam N’Jikam on the Anthony Joshua vs. Andy Ruiz 1 undercard in June 2019 and scored a controversial decision win over John Ryder in November 2019.
