Colby Covington calls out LeBron James once again.
The sports world has been having its fair share of poking fun at former NBA star Nate Robinson following his knockout loss to Jake Paul on the Mike Tyson vs. Roy Jones Jr. boxing card. But one athlete, former interim UFC welterweight champion Colby Covington, is using this knockout to fire shots in an attack on the basketball league and its players — namely LeBron James.
While plenty have had their way with the shot of a KO’d Robinson across social media, or making fun of Robinson’s regretable old tweets, Covington used the moment to call out James, the now four-time NBA champion, future Hall of Famer and arguably the face of the entire sports organization.
Colby Covington says Nate Robinson KO shows NBA stars are soft and privileged
Covington added that he feels the way Robinson performed in the ring, and getting knocked out in spectacular fashion, goes to show that NBA players aren’t as tough as they think they are.
This is not the first time that Covington has called out James this year. Following his win over Tyron Woodley at UFC Vegas 11, Covington stated that he was sick of “woke athletes and spineless cowards like LeBron James.”
Covington is a major supporter of U.S. President Donald Trump, with who James is far from seeing eye-to-eye, to say the least.
This year, Trump has had his share of criticisms of the NBA, stating the players’ actions of kneeling and protesting in the wake of George Floyd’s death, and walking off the court in protest to the Jacob Blake shooting — and the league’s willingness to allow the player-driven protests to happen — was hurting the league. Trump claims that people are sick and tired of what he describes as a heavily-political NBA.
For what it’s worth, James told Trump to not watch, and that he had no care if he didn’t watch.
