The Minnesota Timberwolves won the 2020 NBA Draft Lottery, earning the No. 1 overall pick.
The 2020 NBA Draft Lottery is in the books, and the Minnesota Timberwolves have a chance to add yet another No. 1 overall draft pick to their roster.
With former No. 1 pick Karl-Anthony Towns already in tow, not to mention the two No. 1 picks Minnesota traded for that never panned out a few years ago in Andrew Wiggins and Anthony Bennett, the Wolves will get their second No. 1 overall pick in franchise history.
Entering the night, the Wolves were tied with the Golden State Warriors and Cleveland Cavaliers for the best odds at receiving the top overall selection (14.0 percent). The Warriors will be picking second, while the Cavs fell all the way to No. 5 thanks to the Charlotte Hornets (third) and Chicago Bulls (fourth) jumping into the top four.
The Bulls, who had a 31.9 percent chance of jumping into the top-four picks with the seventh-best odds at receiving the No. 1 overall selection, landed at No. 4. Entering the draft lottery, they had an 8.5 percent chance of landing fourth overall.
Meanwhile, theHornets also jumped into the top-four despite only having a 26.2 percent chance of doing so and only the eighth-best odds of receiving the top overall pick. They came in with the third overall pick, despite only having a 6.7 chance of jumping to that selection.
The Cleveland Cavaliers, who were tied with the Warriors and Timberwolves with 14 percent odds of receiving the top pick and had a 52.1 percent chance of picking in the top four, fell to No. 5. The Atlanta Hawks (25.7 percent odds of picking sixth), Detroit Pistons (26.7 percent odds of picking seventh) and New York Knicks (20.6 percent odds of picking eighth) all fell from their projected selection spots thanks to the Bulls and Hornets jumping into the top four.
