The Sacramento Kings could be without Marvin Bagley for the resumption of the NBA season.
No team has had worse luck since entering the NBA‘s Walt Disney World bubble than the Sacramento Kings. Last Wednesday, guard De’Aaron Fox sprained his ankle during practice, which will sideline him for at least a week. But on Monday, the Kings announced that forward Marvin Bagley III suffered a right foot injury from landing on a teammate’s foot after going for an offensive rebound during a scrimmage on Sunday.
According to Chris Haynes of Yahoo! Sports, the Kings are still waiting on the results of Bagley’s MRI, leaving his status for the start of the season up in the air.
Marvin Bagley’s injury-plagued season continues
The 2019-20 campaign hasn’t been kind to Bagley, the second overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft. In the very first game of the season, he suffered a fractured thumb, which kept him out of action for two months. He then suffered two injuries to his left foot and hasn’t played in an NBA game since this past January.
Through just 13 games, Bagley averaged 14.2 points, 7.5 rebounds and 0.8 assists per game.
We’re not going to sugarcoat it, but the Kings needed their top-name players to have any chance of making the 2020 NBA Playoffs. Sacramento earned an invitation to the bubble due to them being just 3.5 games behind the Memphis Grizzlies for the 8-seed in the Western Conference.
Now with Fox out for a week or longer and Bagley’s diagnosis still to be determined, the Kings enter the resumption of the season at a massive disadvantage.
