J.J. Redick’s pre-game look is a 2020 mood

J.J. Redick’s pre-game ‘fit was a whole mood for 2020.

For those unfamiliar, J.J. Redick is an undeniably likable NBA player, not only for his innate shooting ability that he’s carried with him throughout his basketball career, but also for keeping it real.

Between his extremely honest and straightforward podcast, his support for his Black teammates during the Donald Sterling scandal with the LA Clippers and his support for Black Lives Matter in the wake of rampant police brutality in America, Redick is that NBA veteran who just gets it.

It’s no surprise, then, that his pre-game look before the New Orleans Pelicans‘ third and final scrimmage game against the Milwaukee Bucks on Monday night was basically a whole mood for 2020:

J.J. Redick took flattening the curve to a whole new and stylish place.

Yes, that is Redick donning a “shooters shoot” T-shirt, which is the go-to tagline for any hooper who fancies himself a shooter (and also for the many sad, lonely dudes who live in the Instagram DMs, but that’s neither here nor there).

Yes, that is Redick being responsible and wearing a mask during this global pandemic, which may be a requirement of the NBA’s bubble protocol during this restart, but still has its own sense of style thanks to the Pelicans-themed facewear.

And yes, that is Redick, rocking the sunnies on top of it all.

Really, the only deductions we can take here are from the Adidas hat, but that’s a minor quibble considering they’re his shoe sponsor.

We can’t really tell from the photo whether Redick is inside or outside, but either way, those sunglasses are a great look for the mask and the “shooters shoot” T-shirt. It’s the pinnacle of “responsibly dealing with a pandemic, but make it fashion.”

With that much drip, it’s no wonder Redick dropped 20 points during the Pelicans’ 123-103 win over the Bucks, all of which came in the third quarter, when he was a perfect 5-for-5 from the floor, 4-for-4 from 3-point range and 6-for-6 from the foul line.

All hail J.J. Redick, an inspiration for shooters, NBA fans, people responsibly wearing masks and anyone who can appreciate a stylish take on all three of those things.
