Rookie Cam Reddish has not been shooting well. This is weird because he’s supposed to be good. I want to find out what’s up.
Okay. Yeah. So, Cam Reddish is a rookie. He plays for the Atlanta Hawks. He shoots basketballs, and he’s not very good at doing it. This is a bad thing.
Now that we’ve established this baseline level of knowledge, let’s dig deeper.
Per Basketball-Reference, Cam Reddish has a FG% of 27 percent and 3PT% of 18.8 percent. If I had to guess, FG% stands for “Field Goal Percentage” and 3PT% stands for “Third-gen Pokemon Pokedex Clearance Rate.” Hoenn had too many trumpets.
While I can’t blame Reddish for not catching Rayquaza, part of his job as a basketball player is to make the basketball go in the hoop thing. He’s not doing it well, and that’s concerning.
Again, per Basketball-Reference (the site that taught me how to spell ‘referense’) the average league-wide field goal percentage is 45.2%. Twenty-seven is a lower number than 45.2. I can’t stress that enough. If you try counting up from zero in tenths, 45.2 will come wayyy later than 27.0. Basketball isn’t golf. To my knowledge, golf is the only thing that is golf, and I believe that’s the way it should remain.
So why are these Cam Reddish numbers so bad? I have three thoughts.
Thought 1
When Cam Reddish shoots, the hoop gets smaller.
Thought 2
When Cam Reddish shoots, the basketball gets bigger.
When Cam Reddish shoots, he is bad at aiming and applying the correct velocity.
It’s hard to say which of the three are true. I’d lean toward number two if I had enough physical interest in leaning because I’m really good at falling out of my chair. If I had to recommend one thing to Reddish, it’d be to stop missing the shots he takes. The ones he make are a lot better than the ones he misses.
