The Warriors haven’t looked like themselves for much of this season but they’re still the presumptive favorites. Here’s why they can win it all, again.
Despite only intermittently looking like a great team this season, the Golden State Warriors are still the presumptive favorites to win the NBA Finals in June. Even though several other teams have announced themselves as legitimate threats to the Warriors reign over the last few months, the consensus that Golden State will skate to their third consecutive title remains relatively unchallenged by most. Here are five reasons why that belief is so hard to shake and why they look so likely to triumph yet again.
5. Talent
The Warriors have a historically imposing starting lineup, which features two of the best players in the league alongside five-time All-Star and sharpshooter Klay Thompson, Draymond Green who is one of the most chameleon-like and imposing defenders in NBA history, and DeMarcus Cousins, who while not quite his All-NBA self post-injury can still bring a lot to the table. It seems clear that no team in the NBA has a ceiling as high as Golden State, and if they even approach what they are fully capable of, then they should have few issues winning their third consecutive title.
