Warriors star Klay Thompson comes from a lineage of Lakers players, and it was recently revealed his uncle may be shooting a LeBron James documentary.
Talk about a tough loss. The Golden State Warriors saw their 2022 season end at the hands of LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday night.
James finished the game with 30 points, nine rebounds, and nine assists in 43 minutes of action, and he even delivered a few dagger threes à la Steph Curry.
It was a wholly solid performance and team effort from the Lakers, who punched their ticket to the Western Conference Finals to face the Denver Nuggets. In a West Coast series in which Klay Thompson looked like a dehydrated shell of his once elite sharp-shooting form, Thompson may soon take another loss, one that’s out of his control.
Rumor has it that Thompson’s uncle, Andy Thompson, is collecting footage of LeBron right now to potentially turn into a “Last Dance”-style docuseries.
Andy Thompson, who collected footage of Michael Jordan during the Bulls’ 1997-1998 season to produce “The Last Dance,” has reportedly been filming LeBron during the Lakers’ 2022 postseason run, per John Ireland, the radio announcer for the Lakers.
There’s no conclusive evidence that Andy Thompson is seriously thinking about making a LeBron docuseries in the future, but the similarities are definitely there.

Ireland said on the Awful Announcing podcast:
“I hope I’m not talking out of school here. Andy Thompson, who is the guy who shot “The Last Dance”, has spent a ton of time with us this year. So if LeBron ever wanted to go down this road, I think Andy is stockpiling that just so he has it and has the opportunity to tell the story.”
Is this LeBron’s last dance? That’s a difficult question to answer. If the Lakers make it all the way and he wins his fifth ring, he may want to end his career on a high note and retire. On the other hand, LeBron has frequently expressed his desire to play with his son, Bronny, and may be holding out for at least a few more years.
LeBron is currently in his 20th season, and his reputation really speaks for itself. In this year alone, he surpassed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to become the league’s all-time leading scorer. He just earned his 19th All-NBA selection, the most ever by a player in league history. He stomped all over the bear-poking Memphis Grizzlies in the first round and knocked out the reigning NBA champs this past weekend.
The G.O.A.T. debate surrounding him, Kobe Bryant, and Michael Jordan never ends and may never end, but out of those three, LeBron is the only one whose story has yet to hit the screens.
Of course, LeBron is still playing ball. This intriguing chapter of his story is still being written.
Given that it took more than 20 years for “The Last Dance” docuseries to be made, Andy Thompson’s footage of LeBron will most likely be archived until a LeBron documentary (perhaps named LeDocumentary) is greenlit.
Klay Thompson and his family just keeps on giving more wins to the Lakers franchise. Klay, who shot 3-of-19 from the field and 2-of-12 from beyond the arc in Friday’s loss, is basically honorary Laker at this point. Game 6 Klay has nothing on LeBron James.
