Los Angeles Lakers, Memphis Grizzlies

Dillon Brooks cowers postgame, finally appears to have learned his lesson

Dillon Brooks was ejected from Saturday night’s Game 3 against the Los Angeles Lakers. After the game he showed signs of growth.

Dillon Brooks has been first-team all-beef this season, flexing his ability to get the pot stirred leading up to Game 3 when he called LeBron James old. Which is, heck, more of a compliment than anything else considering we all know James has put together one of the most impressive careers in terms of star power and length.

Also, for what it’s worth, “old” LeBron James hasn’t exactly been stopped by Brooks previously.

With the Grizzlies far from a runaway series victor, it was an interesting strategy to poke the proverbial bear in LeBron and the rest of the Lakers star-propelled team. Brooks and the Grizzlies have been more of a gritty, nuisance team over the years, but regardless, waking up a player like LeBron is not advisable.

Karma came back and bit Brooks in the behind, as he was ejected for making contact with James’s midsection in Game 3. The Lakers ended up winning the game 111-101, taking a 2-1 series lead. LeBron scored 25.

Dillon Brooks wanted none of the smoke after Game 3 incident

When ESPN reporter Tim MacMahon approached Dillon Brooks for comments after the game and flagrant 2/ejection, Brooks declined to talk.

Interesting! For someone who has done virtually nothing but talk, Brooks all of a sudden has nothing to say.

It appears Brooks has finally learned his lesson: You talk once you’ve proven yourself, and it’s best to let the game speak for itself. Brooks talked a massive game and went on to have his lowest scoring of the series thanks in part to his early dismissal.
