Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Lakers

3 players most responsible for Warriors Game 2 win

The Warriors were able to even their series with the Lakers. Here are the heroes who led their blowout win in Game 2.

The Warriors were able to rebound from a Game 1 loss at home to even their series against the Lakers before things head back to Los Angeles. Golden State had this game in control and put it out of reach in the third quarter behind Klay Thompson. The 127-100 doesn’t even really capture how much of a blowout this was.

LeBron James kept the Lakers in this game for most of the first half, but the lack of offense outside him and Rui Hachmuri allowed the Warriors to go away with this game after a points explosion.

3 heroes from the Warriors Game win:

3. Stephen Curry

Early in this game, the Warriors needed someone to carry them and Curry was their guy. At the beginning of this game, it seemed like Curry was carrying the Warriors’ offense to keep pace and not let things get away from them.

He ended with 20 points on 58 percent shooting. Some of those stats came in garbage-time stat-padding but a lot of what Curry could not be seen on the stat sheet. The star was able to draw the attention of the Lakers’ defense in the first half, opening it for the rest of the team. Additionally, he ended up with 12 assists.

2. Draymond Green

Draymond Green had his best game of the playoffs so far. In typical Green fashion, a lot of contributions outweigh the actual stat output. Green did end up with 11 points on 50 percent shooting. Additionally, he had 11 rebounds and 9 assists.

A lot of what was very impressive about Green’s performance in this one was his ability to stop Anthony Davis in this game. Yes, Davis did make some mistakes of his own, but Green’s defensive performance was very good, helping hold Davis to just 11 points on 11 shots.

1. Klay Thompson

Klay Thompson had the best performance of the game in this one. Thompson went for 30 points on 61 percent shooting from the floor, including hitting 8 3-pointers.

Thompson did very well using off-ball screens in this game. Curry and Draymond held the defense’s attention as ball-handlers while Klay continued to find space around them. The Warriors were able to make this series 1-1 going back to L.A. While the results of the two games have been very different, one could expect that this series will definitely go six or seven games.
