Collin Sexton latest Instagram post shows gratitude to Cavs fans

Collin Sexton was traded to the Utah Jazz, and he posted a thank you to Cleveland Cavaliers fans for supporting the start of his NBA career.

The Cavs were bound to liquidate some of their youth at some point to make a move toward contention. They did just that when they sent several draft picks, Lauri Markkanen, and Collin Sexton to the Utah Jazz in exchange for Donovan Mitchell.

The decision to move on from youth talent in a move like this is bittersweet for fans. On one hand, you have to say goodbye to the young talent you’ve watched and grown accustomed to for years. Seeing a career blossom in front of you creates a unique bond for fan and player.

On the other hand, if the move is right, it can instantly take a team from good to great. The Cavs hope that’s the case here.

Collin Sexton expresses gratitude to Cavs fans, city of Cleveland

As far as Sexton and Cleveland, though, there is no bad blood. He took to Instagram recently to express his gratitude for what the fans and city meant to him at the start of his career.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Fans and the Cavs Organization for the Love and Support you have shown me from the start of my Professional NBA Career! I have enjoyed my time here in Cleveland and appreciate you guys for believing in me. I will be forever Grateful!”

In his four years as a Cav, Sexton averaged 20.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game, shooting nearly 46 percent from the field. Sexton was good, but it was a move the franchise had to make to give themselves a chance at a deep run in the postseason.
