Dallas Mavericks, Golden State Warriors, NBA Playoffs

NBA Twitter already has Warriors in the Finals after going up 3-0 on Mavs

The Golden State Warriors walked into Dallas for Game 3 and exited with a 3-0 Western Conference Finals lead over the Mavericks.

The Dallas Mavericks had a promising Game 2 against the Golden State Warriors, yet were unable to get the win. But there was hope for the Mavericks that returning to their home court could help in them getting their first win in the Western Conference Finals.

As it turns out, home court was not enough, as the Warriors picked up the 109-100 victory over the Mavericks to take a commanding 3-0 series lead. For the record, there has been no team to overcome a 3-0 series deficit in the NBA Playoffs.

If there was one viral moment in the game, it was not Curry tripping over a vendor. No, it involved a play by Andrew Wiggins.

In the fourth quarter, Wiggins drove to the basket and leaped into the air. Mavericks star Luka Doncic tried to contest the shot, but he ended up being epically posterized in what may go down as the dunk of the entire 2022 NBA Playoffs.

Wiggins finished the game with 27 points (11-for-20 from the field), 11 rebounds and four assists.

Then, there was Stephen Curry, who led the team with 31 points scored after shooting 10-for-20 from the field and 5-for-10 from behind the arc.

Doncic tried his best to keep the Mavericks alive in this series, as he put up 40 points in 40 minutes. In fact, 21 of those points arrived in the fourth quarter. Now, the Mavericks are 2-6 when Doncic scores 40 or more points in a playoff game, per ESPN’s Tim MacMahon.

The Warriors certainly look destined for the NBA Finals, but they will have to get that pivotal fourth win. They look to do so as soon as Game 4, which takes place on Tuesday, May 24 at 9:00 p.m. ET.
