3 Thunder players undergo season-ending surgery on the same day

The Oklahoma City Thunder are in the midst of a really awful season and they got some really awful news as three players needed season-ending surgery.

One of the worst teams in the NBA has some really, really bad luck.

The Oklahoma City Thunder had three players need season-ending surgery. That in itself is astronomically awful news. But to somehow make things even worse, those three players all went through season-ending surgery on the same day.

According to a tweet from Joe Mussatto, the Thunder announced that Lu Dort, Mike Muscala, and Ty Jerome all received season-ending surgery on Tuesday.

Dort apparently needed shoulder surgery to address a torn labrum while Muscala needed to address some ankle ligament damage and Jerome ended up having a sports hernia taken care of.

None of that sounds any fun at all. What a bizarre and weird and awful situation for the Thunder.

However, there is a slight glimmer of hope in all of this. The Thunder weren’t going to really be competitive down the stretch of this season anyway.

Regardless of if these three guys were actually healthy enough to go through the rest of the year and play at a high level, this team is too young and too bad to actually be able compete against and consistently beat better foes.

And the bright side here is these guys will be able to get back on the court next season. A new year. With an offseason and some draft picks and some free agents and all three of these guys healthy enough to play, maybe OKC fans can hope for a better season next year.
