Kevin Durant to miss Christmas Day Nets vs. Lakers showdown

Some disheartening news has come in for basketball fans across the globe, as Kevin Durant won’t be in action on Saturday due to COVID protocols.

The NBA and Christmas go together like peanut butter and jelly. It’s a beautiful combo and there are some awesome matchups on the schedule for Saturday. This if course includes the meeting between the Brooklyn Nets and Los Angeles Lakers.

Now, though, fans are no doubt going to be bummed when they find out Kevin Durant won’t be able to play in this one due to COVID protocols. The news just dropped and NBA Twitter is having a bit of a meltdown .

Kevin Durant missing the Christmas game is a bummer for Nets and Lakers fans

Everyone was waiting to see Durant and LeBron James face off in what figured to be a back-and-forth affair. Plenty of points were expected to be scored between the two, as they’re no question among the best players in the league.

Now, though, we won’t see Durant out there. On the year, the superstar small forward is scoring nearly 30 points a game. With him playing so well, the Nets are 21-9 this season and currently in first place of the Eastern Conference standings.

The Lakers are in the middle of a rough season, but they’ve got plenty of star power to try and turn things around. They’ll hope to get hot and have things start with a win over Brooklyn on Christmas. For the Nets, they’ll have to try and take down James and Co. without Durant drilling shots for them.
