Listen: Call of Karl-Anthony Towns’ buzzer-beater is better than caffeine

In the final seconds of the Minnesota Timberwolves-Memphis Grizzlies game, Karl Anthony-Towns banks a buzzer-beater that sends Timberwolves to overtime.

If there was ever a Hail Mary on the basketball court, it would be the shot Karl-Anthony Towns banked in at the final seconds of the Timberwolves-Grizzles game.

With one second left on the shot clock, Naz Reid chucked the ball to half-court, where the 6-foot-11 Towns was waiting for the ball.

Towns got in a step and heaved the ball to the basket, the buzzer loudly cranking as it floated through the air. When the last-second attempt banked in, both the announcer and the Timberwolves team went wild.

In a hilarious moment, Josh Okogie and Towns celebrated by jumping into one another, which landed Okogie on the floor as the team celebrated the shot with Towns.

Karl-Anthony Towns’ buzzer-beater sent the Timberwolves into a frenzy

Despite his miraculous basket, the Timberwolves didn’t secure the win in that moment: the tied 113-113 game went into overtime. And, unfortunately, they didn’t secure it at all. In overtime, the Grizzlies won out, 125-118, making the Timberwolves record now 3-6 on the season.

Towns’ talent was on full display, making the center even more of a desirable commodity on the market. Recently, it appeared that Towns liked a tweet using the hashtag #FreeKAT, a reference to releasing the talented big man from his struggling franchise.

However, Towns reported that his Twitter account was hacked and that he is “very happy” with the Timberwolves.

As long as he is in Minnesota, Towns should continue to have champion-level performances. Against the Grizzlies, Towns had 25 points, 13 rebounds, three assists, and two blocks. KAT also made 45 percent of his field goals and 33.3 percent of his 3-pointers — including the incredible buzzer-beater that had Minnesota rocking to what was nearly a win.
