What could Team USA’s roster look like in 2024?

Team USA’s roster for the 2024 Summer Olympic Games in Paris could look very different.

With Team USA capturing gold in the fourth straight summer olympiad, let’s take a look at what the roster could potentially look like for the 2024 Summer Olympic Games in Paris.

Again, this is three years out, so we have no idea what players will be entering their athletic prime in their late 20s or early 30s. The good news is there are usually a handful of holdovers from the previous Olympic Games. However, we know Gregg Popovich will not be the head coach in Paris, and whoever ends up replacing him will have a profound impact on how makes the 12-man roster.

Here is a super early projection of who could be representing the United States in Paris in 2024.

Projected Team USA roster for 2024 Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo

  • Guards (5): Bradley Beal, Devin Booker, Steph Curry, Ja Morant, Trae Young
  • Forward (5): Mikal Bridges, Kevin Durant, Anthony Edwards, Jayson Tatum, Zion Williamson
  • Centers (2): Bam Adebayo, James Wiseman
  • Head Coach (1): Steve Kerr

The only holdover at guard will be Devin Booker. Since Bradley Beal was unable to make it to Tokyo this year, he gets one last shot at Olympic glory. While it makes sense for guys like Ja Morant and Trae Young to make the squad, keep in mind that Steph Curry has never played for Team USA on this stage. Assuming Steve Kerr is the head coach, he could make the trip to Paris in three years.

At forward, look for Beal’s fellow St. Louis guy Jayson Tatum to be back for another trip to the Olympics. Since Curry needs another guy in his age group, why not let Kevin Durant serve as the other elder statesman of the group. Rounding out the forwards will be Mikal Bridges, Anthony Edwards and Zion Williamson. Bam Adebayo returns at center, with James Wiseman joining him.

Expect a handful of these guys to represent the United States in Paris three summers from now.
