Atlanta Hawks’ championship odds soar after Giannis knee injury

The Atlanta Hawks see their title odds skyrocket after Giannis Antetokounmpo’s knee injury.

Though the Atlanta Hawks are still a dark horse to win their first NBA Finals in over 60 years, they have seen their title odds improve greatly after Giannis Antetokounmpo suffered a knee injury.

Atlanta won Game 4 at home without star point guard Trae Young over Antetokounmpo’s Milwaukee Bucks to even the 2021 Eastern Conference Finals up at two games apiece. While no structural damage was found in Wednesday’s MRI of Antetokounmpo’s knee, he is doubtful for Game 5 at home on Thursday night. Young had been questionable with a bone bruise in his ankle.

Here are the latest NBA title odds after Antetokounmpo’s knee injury. Odds are from WynnBET.

Updated NBA Championship odds after Giannis Antetokounmpo knee injury

  • Phoenix Suns: -140
  • Milwaukee Bucks: +325
  • Atlanta Hawks: +550
  • LA Clippers: +700

With a 3-2 series lead, the Phoenix Suns have the best odds of winning the 2021 NBA Finals at -140. Though Milwaukee still has the second-best odds at +325, Atlanta has closed the gap on the Bucks a bit with the third-best odds to win it all at +550. Phoenix’s Western Conference Finals opponent in the LA Clippers are a long shot at +700. They must win two more games to stay alive.

Overall, there is not a ton of separation between these final four NBA teams. When we arrived at these four conference semifinalists, you could have argued for any of the quartet to hoist the Larry O’Brien Trophy at the end of the 2021 NBA Playoffs. While it seemed like a forgone conclusion it would be Bucks vs. Suns in the 2021 NBA Finals some 48 hours ago, that may no longer be the case.

Whoever wins the 2021 NBA Finals will have run the gauntlet unlike any champion before them.
