Dallas Mavericks, Los Angeles Clippers, NBA Playoffs

‘Pandemic P’ already trending after 1 half of LA Clippers playoff basketball

When “Pandemic P” is already trending on Twitter after one half of LA Clippers playoff basketball, you know Paul George is having himself a bad time.

Twitter is ruthless, as LA Clippers wing Paul George is already trending for all the wrongs reasons as “Pandemic P.”

The Clippers trailed the Dallas Mavericks 60-55 at halftime at home in Game 1 of their first-round, best-of-seven playoff series. Los Angeles tanked its last few games of the regular season to avoid playing the in-arena rival Los Angeles Lakers sooner. George shot 1-of-7 from the field, 0-for-3 from distance, but 5-for-5 at the free-throw line, so he had that going for him at least.

If the Clippers suffer another early-postseason exit, ownership will have to blow this team up.

LA Clippers: “Pandemic P” is trending as Paul George plays awful first half

Up to this point, the star tandem of George and Kawhi Leonard have accomplished getting their former head coach Doc Rivers fired, and nothing more.

Despite having a better regular-season record than the Lakers this year, the Clippers were unable to win a Pacific Division title, as that honor belongs to the No. 2-seeded Phoenix Suns.

It does not matter if “Playoff P” or “Pandemic P” is trending, it just means George continues to be one of the most un-clutch superstars in the NBA today.

Ultimately, the Clippers will have to beat Luka Doncic and the rest of the Mavericks to have any hope of keeping this group together. A first-round exit would be a death sentence for this squad. While a potential second-round loss to the Utah Jazz will probably not land well either, keep in mind that the Clippers have never played in a conference finals before in their not-so rich history.

The longer “Pandemic P” trends the worse things are getting for George, Leonard and the Clippers.
