With the NBA trade deadline approaching, these five teams are expected to be buyers on the market.

The 2021 NBA trade deadline is just over a week away, which means trade season (and NBA rumors in general) are heating up!

As the March 25 deadline approaches, teams typically fall into three categories: buyers, sellers and holders. The buyers are typically the contenders looking to bolster their rotations for a playoff run or the fringe playoff teams hoping to work their way more firmly into the postseason bracket. The sellers are usually the disappointments or bottom-feeders looking for a way to recoup some future assets in a lost season. And the holders are the teams with limited flexibility who are content with where they’re at.

It can be difficult to separate the league’s 30 teams into these three distinct categories in a given year. For example, you could make an argument for the Toronto Raptors as buyers, sellers and holders this year.

However, for most of the field, it’s a little more clear-cut, and since we’ve already covered the sellers, it’s time to go over five NBA teams that should be buyers heading into the trade deadline.
