If the Miami Heat are looking for a way to take down LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers, they may want to pay attention to what Dorell Wright has to say.
The Los Angeles Lakers and Miami Heat are in the middle of their NBA Finals showdown, with LeBron James, Anthony Davis and Co. taking Game 1 in convincing fashion. While many out there are ready to write of Jimmy Butler and his Miami teammates, this team still has what it takes to make it a series again.
And if you ask former Miami Heat draft pick Dorell Wright, trying to contain James will be a major factor in getting that done. So, how can the Heat try and slow down the future Hall of Famer?
Can the Miami Heat find a way to slow down LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers?
In Game 1, James put on quite the show in the Lakers victory, scoring 25 points and adding 13 rebounds. Before that game, Wright called for the Heat to be aggressive in guarding him. They’ll need to continue that the rest of the series if they want a shot at taking down the Lakers.
“I think they’re just going to show so many bodies to LeBron, just aggravate him, irritate him — whenever they get a chance to foul him, foul him hard and let him feel you,” Wright said. “I think it’s going to be one of those old school Miami Heat — you know how those Miami Heat vs. Knicks’ series used to be back in the day? I think you’re going to get that type of game(s).”
While Miami will need to slow down James, they can’t forget about Davis either. He himself had an incredible Game 1, scoring 34 points.
The Heat surely have quite the uphill climb in the NBA Finals, but this thing is far from over. And if you ask Wright how they can turn things around, it’s all about staying aggressive and not letting James ease his way into the paint.
