2020 NBA Draft date locked in for November 18

The date of the 2020 NBA Draft has officially been locked in.

Mark your virtual calendars, draft prospects, general managers and basketball fans! The 2020 NBA Draft date has officially been locked in by the league.

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the 2020 draft will take place on Nov. 18, 2020.

It had been tentative to this point, but the revised date has reportedly been agreed upon by the NBA and the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA).

The 2020 NBA Draft will take place in just over two months

The upcoming draft will be unlike any other in NBA history, not only because many of these college prospects were unable to complete a whole season or participate in team workouts to this point, but also because it will be held virtually, a few months past its original target date.

The draft is typically held in June the week after the NBA Finals conclude, but this year’s June date was first pushed back to Oct. 16. Then it was moved back another month to this new Nov. 18 date.

This will be the first NBA Draft since 1975 to not be held in June. It will be interesting to see when the 2020-21 NBA season will begin, given that its start date is still very much up in the air.
