DeAndre Jordan has revealed that he’s tested positive for COVID-19.
The Brooklyn Nets‘ DeAndre Jordan revealed on Twitter that he has tested positive for COVID-19 and won’t join the Brookly Nets as they travel to Orlando in a few weeks in order to re-start the NBA season. Jordan joins teammate Spencer Dinwiddie as members of the Nets organization that have tested positive for the virus. Unlike Jordan, Dinwiddie’s involvement in the upcoming restart remains uncertain.
Jordan came to Brooklyn in the 2019-2020 offseason to join Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant as a new super-power in the Eastern Conference. Now, Jordan, Irving, and Durant remain on the sidelines and will more than likely not play for the rest of the year, leaving Brooklyn’s chances of making the playoffs even harder than they were before. Even with their sizeable lead over the Washington Wizards.
The team has never found their rhythm, mostly due to injuries to their stars in Durant and Irving. Durant has yet to play all year due to an Achilles injury and Irving has missed a considerable amount of time due to different issues.
Now four of the Nets best players out for the rest of the year. The club sits at 30-35 right now, and are currently the No. 7 seed in the Eastern Conference. Should the Washington Wizards put together a strong performance in Orlando, it’s entirely possible that the Nets could get bounced from the playoffs despite having a current 6.0 game lead in the loss column over the Wizards.
The bulk of the season now lies on Caris LeVert, Joe Harris, Taurean Prince, and Jarrett Allen to carry the team. For LeVert and Allen, they were seen as Brooklyn’s future before the arrival of Jordan, Irving, and Durant, and now they’ll be asked to carry the load for the team.
