Which Cavaliers veterans will still be on the team at the end of the season?

Justin Rowan joins the latest episode of Fastbreak Breakfast to discuss the Cleveland Cavaliers and their goals and strategy for the season.

Following the LeBron James‘ exodus to Los Angeles following the 2018 NBA Finals, the Cavaliers were once again plunged into the darkness of a rebuild. After winning only 19 games in 2018-19, only modest improvements were expected this season, reflected in their preseason over/under win total of 24.5.

Last year’s record at least landed them the fifth pick in the NBA Draft which they used on guard Darius Garland. Taking on the [bad] salaries of Brandon Knight and Jon Henson brought extra picks which turned into Dylan Windler and Kevin Porter Jr, giving Cleveland a host of youngsters to pair with Collin Sexton.

With a stable of youngsters to develop and almost no hope of making the playoffs, what does that mean for the team’s productive veterans? Tristan Thompson‘s strong early season play has turned heads, Jordan Clarkson continues to provide an offensive spark in a sixth man role, and Kevin Love is a constant name in trade rumors. The John Henson and Matthew Dellevadova contracts are expiring which may be useful in facilitating a transaction and bringing in an asset or two.

So which of these players is going to make it past the trade deadline? Which ones are primed for the buy-out market? And which of the youngsters have already demonstrating they are building blocks for the next good Cavaliers team?

To answer these questions, Justin Rowan (@cavsanada) joins the latest episode of Fastbreak Breakfast. Listen now:
