Episode 1 of Rookie on the Rise with Trae Young

Trae Young is just 15 games in his NBA career but he’s already established himself as a star in the rise. In the first episode of the exclusive video series, Rookie on the Rise, Young discusses his experiences on draft night.

Anyone who watched Trae Young torching defenses as a freshman at Oklahoma last season knew it would be long before he’d be bringing his devastating shooting and passing to the NBA. Just 15 games into his rookie year, Young has already established himself as one of the league’s most exciting young playmakers — averaging 16.7 points, 8.0 assists and 3.0 rebounds per game for the Atlanta Hawks.

Young arrived in Atlanta via a draft-night trade that had him selected fifth by the Dallas Mavericks and sent to Atlanta in exchange for Luka Doncic. In this exclusive first episode of Rookie on the Rise, Young discusses his draft-night experiences, including the shock of seeing his own face on a billboard in Times Square.

The Hawks are in a rebuilding mode but Young is already establishing chemistry with fellow rookies Kevin Huerter and Omari Spellman, working towards helping the franchise return to the playoffs. There is plenty of season left for Young to build momentum, add to his highlight reel and maybe even chase the Rookie of the Year Award.

Season one of “Rookie on The Rise” premiered earlier this year, and followed Utah Jazz sensation Donovan Mitchell. The new season will feature Young, with each 2-5 minute episode showcasing behind-the-scenes moments following his rise to national stardom, interactions with family and friends, and more. The series will offer fans a never-before-seen intimate look at an athlete whose career has caught the attention of the country. The series is available for viewing on Young Hollywood — a digital network available on Apple TV, Amazon Channels, Amazon Fire TV, Chromecast and Roku — as a well as Facebook Watch, and Young Hollywood’s YouTube, Twitter and other social channels.
